Performance comparison of pulse-pair and wavelets methods for the pulse Doppler weather radar spectrum

چکیده
In the civilian aviation field, the radar detection of hazardous weather phenomena (winds) is very important. This detection will allow the avoidance of these phenomena and consequently will enhance the safety of flights. In this work, we have used the wavelets method to estimate the mean velocity of winds. The results showed that the application of this method is promising compared with the classical estimators (pulse-pair, Fourier). PACS: 92.40.Ea, 92.40.eg, 92.60.gf. Key-words: Doppler weather radar, pulse-pair, wavelets, denoising, spectral moments.

Extending the Radar Dynamic Range using Adaptive Pulse Compression
The matched filter in the radar receiver is only adapted to the transmitted signal version and its output will be wasted due to non-matching with the received signal from the environment. The sidelobes amplitude of the matched filter output in pulse compression radars are dependent on the transmitted coded waveforms that extended as much as the length of the code on both sides of the target loc...
متن کاملPulse compression for weather radars
Wideband waveform techniques, such as pulse compression, allow for accurate weather radar measurements in a short data acquisition time. However, for extended targets such as precipitation systems, range sidelobes mask and corrupt observations of weak phenomena occurring near areas of strong echoes. Therefore, sidelobe suppression is extremely important in precisely determining the echo scatter...
متن کاملP 7 . 10 The production of high quality Doppler velocity fields for dual PRT weather radar
Doppler weather radar suffer from well known limitations associated with the trade off between range and velocity aliasing. This is particularly severe as the radar wavelength decreases. There are a number of operational 5 cm wavelength Doppler radars around the world and for reasonable maximum ranges of about 150 km, the unambiguous velocity is only about 13 ms. Automated processing techniques...
متن کاملAssessment of Weighting Functions Used in Oppermann Codes in Polyphase Pulse Compression Radars
Polyphase is a common class of pulse compression waveforms in the radar systems. Oppermann code is one of the used codes with polyphone pattern. After compression, this code has little tolerant against Doppler shift in addition to its high side lobe level. This indicates that the use of Oppermann code is an unsuitable scheme to radars applications. This paper shows that the use of amplitude wei...
متن کاملNoise reduction of continuous wave radar and pulse radar using matched filter and wavelets
This paper analyzes noise reduction using matched filter and wavelet transform in the signals of continuous wave radar and pulse radar. The denoising application of wavelets has been used in spectrum cleaning of atmospheric radar signals. Matched filter has a strong anti-noise ability; it can also achieve accurate pulse compression in a very noisy environment. This paper analyzes the algorithms...
